Friends of Wettern Tree Garden

Group provides support for Croydon Council in caring for the garden by litter picking, rose pruning, weeding and looking after the tree trail. An occasional newsletter is issued to members. The group has a close link with the Wettern family (the original owners of the garden) and hold occasional social events.


Heathfield Ecology Centre
The Old Orchard, Coombe Lane, Croydon, CR0 5RH.
The Ecology Centre lies within the grounds of Heathfield, a grade II listed mansion owned by Croydon Council. The group started in 1997, taking on the old gardeners block and looking after the ‘Old Orchard’. The Centre offers a varied programme of free events throughout the year, including the annual Green Heritage Fair every September. The Centre Warden offers session for schools and other groups and manages the Centre volunteers who meet every first and third Sunday of every month.


Riddlesdown to Whyteleafe Countryside Area volunteers

The Riddlesdown to Whyteleafe Countryside Ranger is a partnership post between Croydon, Tandridge and the Corporation of London. The ranger offers educational visit to schools and other groups, leads guided walks and manages a volunteer group which meets every Monday to carry out practical conservation work to benefit the whole area.

The group looks after 20 acres of local woodland with mature beech and oak trees. They meet every Wednesday morning to improve the amenity value of the site whilst maintaining quality timber to ensure the woods sustainability.


West Wickham and Coulsdon Commons Volunteer Groups

The Corporation manages the following areas: Farthing Downs, Coulsdon & Kenley Commons, Riddlesdown, Spring Park and West Wickham. Each site has its own volunteer group carrying out practical conservation work.
